 Standard Features:
Engine
Two quality electronic engines are featured within the 7400 Series. The Perkins powers the 7465, 7475, and 7480, while the SisuDiesel™ powers 7485, 7490, and the 7495. Both of these Tier III compliant engines are designed for efficiency in even the most extreme conditions.
The latest Perkins or SisuDiesel™ Tier II engines with Electronic Engine Management (EEM) give the 7400 Series increased torque across the speed range and more torque backup, all the way down to 1,000 rpm.
Both are wastegate turbo-charged with air-to-air charge cooling. These engines are some of the quietest you've ever experienced-up to three decibels quieter than Tier I engines.
The MF 7465, 7475, and 7480 models are powered by the Perkins 1106 Series 6-liter engines. In addition to the Fastram™ combustion system, these engines feature an improved ground timing gear for quieter operation and a new rear oil seal.
These are just a few of the features that have established Perkins as one of the world's leading engine manufacturers:
Uni-flow cylinder head ports precondition intake air entering the combustion chamber for the greatest efficiency
Water pump is driven by the engine timing gears, doing away with the need for separate belt drives
An integral oil cooler design extends service intervals while eliminating the need for special radiators and extra hoses or fittings
The MF 7485, 7490, and 7495 models are equipped with the new SisuDiesel™ 6.6-liter engine, offering up to 20% more torque.
Some of the features that have helped establish their record reliability include:
Separately inserted wet cylinder sleeves to assure easy coolant circulation
Dual cylinder heads for more room for pre-stressed head bolts to help prevent coolant or combustion leaks
Cooling ribs on the cylinder sleeve to give circulating coolant more surface contact for better heat transfer and longer engine life.
Crossflow design for better fuel economy
Transmission
The Dyna-VT™ continuously variable transmission (CVT) provides infinitely variable speed control from supercreep to transport speed without shifting, jerking, or delay in tractor or power.
Dyna-VT™ Transmission
Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission boasts smooth, infinitely variable speed control from 0 - 31 mph (50 km/h) that offers versatility and precision through innovative technology, sophisticated features, and easy-to-use, straightforward controls.
Maximum transport speeds of up to 31 mph w/ optional QuadLink™ front suspension
Creeper speeds as slow as 60 ft/hr standard
3 function ‘Pedal Mode’ automatically adjusts engine speed and ground speed as 1
Standard left-hand Power Control lever for seamless forward and reverse shuttling can also be used as an alternative control for speed adjustment.
Unique engine ‘Supervisor’ automatically adjusts transmission ratio to maintain power and traction when engine speed falls under load.
Hydraulics
Closed center pressure flow compensated system provides 29 gpm of total flow. Time and Flow is controlled on two electro-hydraulic valves with the remote valve management system (RSM) joystick option.
There are high expectations in a tractor’s hydraulic systems in our ever changing industry. The Massey 7400 series is well up to the task with their three pump hydraulic system.
Three pumps allow the transmission and hydraulic to run off of different reservoirs to avoid any possibility of contamination to the transmission.
Axial piston pump supplies oil for the remotes
Second pump supplies oil to the steering, brakes, and oil cooler
Third pump supplies oil to the transmission
Standard three hydraulic remotes, power beyond circuits, and load sensing lines to fit a wide range of applications.
Optional Remote Valve Management System (RMS) comprised of an armrest mounted joystick that controls two electro-hydraulic proportional spool valves. This adds comfort and convenience to the operation.
Dot Matrix screen adds functionality to the Remote Valve Management System (RMS) by allowing the time and flow to be controlled. No longer does the operator have to hold valves and wait to lift the implement. With Dot Matrix, a simple bump of the joystick in the desired direction will do it automatically.
PTO
Standard 540 Economy PTO reduces engine rpm 23% when power is not needed. Independent PTO can be engaged and disengaged without disturbing tractor movement.
Operator's Area
Increased comfort means increased efficiency. The spacious cab has the industry leading lower decibel level. Ergonomically placed cab controls such as the transmission and rear three point hitch controls in the armrest.
The MF 7400 cab has been designed to be the quietest cab in the industry, with a rating of 71 decibels. From the comfort of a high efficient cooling and heating system to the second to none, all-around visibility, nothing has been overlooked in the quest to offer farmers what they really need and want.
Just a few features of the cab include:
A tractor systems monitor with indicator lights on a tractor schematic to tell you when a tractor system is engaged or maintenance is needed.
Digital readouts for exact data on PTO speed, theoretical forward ground speed, engine rpm, and engine hours.
     61-square feet of visibility
Easy to read, easy to reach instruments with ergonomically designed console
Serviceability
Easy access to tractor service items added to increased service intervals allows a savings in time and money.
Easy access to maintenance items was considered in the design of the 7400 series. Tilting side panels allow access to the entire side of the engine compartment. Also, operators have unobstructed access to the engine air filter, radiator fill, and windshield wiper fluid. Movable radiators make cleaning the radiator, oil cooler and air conditioning evaporator easy.
Daily service items are done without removing the side panels. Engine oil check, fuel filter drain, transmission oil check, and hydraulic oil check are all done with removing panels.
3-Point Hitch
Electronic three point hitch control offers a choice of "draft-sensing mode" for quick response to changing field conditions, or "position-control mode" for maintaining a preset height or depth. The Massey Ferguson ILS (Integrated Linkage System) option offers a fully integrated front linkage and PTO system.
Depending on conditions, the 7400 can be set to furnish quick response to changing conditions or maintain a specified depth for implements such as a rear mounted blade.
Other features that make for quick hook-ups:
Telescopic Lower Links for large mounted implements
Telescopic Sway Links control side to side movement on all implements
Adjustable Lift Arms for quick height adjustment
The Massey Ferguson ILS (Integrated Linkage System) option offers a fully integrated front linkage and PTO system. Integrated into the tractor mainframe for greater strength and more compact profile, the front 3-point hitch provides 8,800 lbs. (4,000 kg) of lift capacity, which allows it to handle cultivators, plows, fertilizer tanks, etc.
Front Axle Suspension
Front Axle Suspension for increased ground contact, reduced wheel slippage, and reduced power hop. This provided increased efficiency in the field since the tires stay on the ground. When towing heavy loads down the road, the front suspension provides greater steering control especially at higher speeds.
Unlike competitors, this system can be deactivated with a push of a button
When deactivated, the tractor maintains full +/- 11° oscillation as a regular rigid front axle. This is important for operations such as loader work and grading.
This simple proven design is easy to maintain, yet will give a solid performance.
Cab Suspension
It’s noticed on the highway trucks; now, it’s noticed as an option on the Massey 7400 series tractors.
The dual stage pneumatic cab suspension helps soak up uneven conditions in the field. This system is proven to smooth out unwanted jolts and vibrations in two different settings of soft and hard.
